
Our Company Rapidpartsmart.com is an information service of Scientech. Rapidpartsmart.com represents the fourth generation of service from RAPIDŽ (the Readily Accessible Parts Information Directory) that has served the power industry since 1990. In June 2000, RAPID expanded its services & content to provide the power industry with collaborative e-commerce and supply chain solutions, adding measurable value to our customers. Scientech is a fast-growing, worldwide technical services and consulting company, serving the needs of energy, telecommunications and government markets with experience, expertise and proprietary products.
Our Community Our Community is an extensive network of supply chain professionals that assist each other during urgent need situations and that work together to resolve issues that affect the industry as a whole. We currently provide our service to over 100 companies, including utilities, suppliers, brokers and transportation companies, supporting over 450 power plants and delivery facilities. In addition, we are affiliated with numerous industry groups such as the National Materials Support Group, the Nuclear Utility Obsolescence Group and the Investment Recovery Association, working to ensure that our services are meeting the needs of the industry. Each year we host an annual user conference to bring our members together in order to share information and strengthen relationships.
Our History Rapidpartsmart.com started over seventeen years ago as the Readily Accessible Parts Inventory Database or RAPIDŽ. In those days we had six customers and the vision to see that a service was needed to locate parts during urgent need situations and to reduce the surplus inventories that had accumulated as a result of cancelled power plant projects. Using telephones, modems, dial-up software and a lot of hard work, we were able transform RAPID into the largest part locating service for the power industry. RAPID was an early pioneer on the Internet. Our Classic RAPID part locating service migrated to the Internet in 1996. Since that time we have continued to improve our service by adding features needed by our members. RAPID has positioned us to address the opportunities and challenges presented to our customers and ourselves by the Internet and e-Commerce. Today there are over 450 power plant sites and delivery facilities benefiting from our service. We look forward to our next twelve years and will continue to add the content, community and tools needed to add measurable value to our members.
